Two motorcyclists killed in city road crash

Two motorcyclists were killed when a speedy truck rammed a motorbike at Shreepur Bus stand area on Nabinagar-Chandra Highway in Dhaka’s Ashulia early Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Sheikh Sadar Ali, 61, son of late Lal Mia, a resident of Narail Upazila and Alamgir Hossen, 28, son of Samad Fakir, hailing from Shamnagar in Satkhira.

Quoting locals, Jahidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Savar Highway Police Station said the truck rammed the motorbike carrying two people at Girani area as its driver lost control over the steering, leavening Sadar Ali and Alamgir Hossen dead on the spot.

Later, locals retrieved the bodies and took them to local Fazilatunnesa Mujib Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared them dead, the OC said.

On information, Savar Highway police recovered the bodies and handed them over to their families, he added.
