Bangladeshi shot dead by BSF along Chapainawabganj border

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Bangladeshi national near Singnagar border of in Chapainawabganj on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Manarul Islam, 27, son of Nuhu Monna, resident of Tarapur Monnapara village in Monakasha union under Sibganj upazila in the district.

Locals said Manarul entered Indian Territory with cattle and drug smugglers through Singnagar border. The members of BSF Dowlatpur Camp fired on them when they were returning Bangladesh from pillar no 16 area at around 5:00am, leaving Manarul dead on the spot.

Lt Col Sajjad Sarwar, commander of the Border Guard Bangladesh 53 Battalion could not be reached for comments as he did not receive calls.
