The government has undertaken a project involving Tk1751 crore for improvement of water supply and sanitation in 30 municipal towns in the country.
Local Government Division and Department of Public Health Engineering will implement the project which will end in June 2023.The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) on Tuesday approved 11 projects involving Tk8,052 crore.
One of these projects has been approved for improvement of water supply and sanitation in 30 municipalities across the country.
Planning Minister MA Mannan told the reporters that the projects were endorsed at Ecnec meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at NEC conference room on Tuesday.
It also included a project involving Tk59crore for increasing security measures at all the international airports of the country.
To increase the security measures at the airports the prime minister also suggested introducing dog squads at each airport in the country, the minister said.
Other projects are Netrokona-Kendua-Atharbari-Isharganj district development project involving Tk710 crore during July 2019 to June 22, Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET) development project involving Tk710.74 during January 2016 to December 2020 (revised), Investment Component for Vulnerable Group Development Programme (2nd phase) involving Tk317.27 crore during July 2019 to June 2022, Cumilla-Chandpur-Brahmanbaria district irrigation area development project involving Tk325.53 crore during July 2019 to June 2024, Poultry Research & Development Strengthening project involving Tk123.35 crore, Livestock production equipment and research center to improve livestock food quality project involving Tk105.60 crore during July 2016 to December 2020, Khulna 330 MW duel fuel combined cycle power plant setup involving Tk 3919.26 crore during January 2017 to June 2022, Chemical warehouse setup project involving Tk91.74 crore during July 2019 to June 2020 and BISIC industrial park, Tangail involving Tk295.75 crore during July 2015 to June 2020.
