4 held with 41 gold bars in Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested four alleged smugglers along with 41 gold bars at Amrakhali area in Benapole on Sunday.

The arrestees are identified as Anisur Rahman, 24, Riaz Molla, 25, Sabuj Mridha, 21 and Tanfir Zaman, 18.

Lt Col Selim Reza, commanding officer of BGB-49 battalion, said acting on a tipped off, a BGB team stopped a Benapole-bound bus at around 8:00am and recovered 41 gold bars, weighing around 4.78 kilograms. They also arrested four smugglers from the bus.

The approximate value of the gold bars is around Tk 2.11 crore.
