CHATTOGRAM: The first-ever international standard ‘Imperial Hospital Limited (IHL)’ started its journey in the port city on Saturday.
World renowned Cardiologist Professor Dr Devi Prasad Shetty inaugurated the state-of-the-art privately-developed hospital in the city’s Foy’s Lake area as the chief guest.Awami League Presidium Member and former Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain was present as guest at the inaugural ceremony.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Dr Devi Shetty said the tendency of going abroad by Bangladeshis for treatment will reduce to a larger extent as the specialised hospital will be able to provide full-fledged treatment to the local patients.
With vernacular daily ‘Dainik Azadi’ Editor and the IHL Director MA Malek in the chair, the hospital Board of Trustees Chairman Professor Dr Rabiul Husain, Managing Director Amjadul Ferdous Chowdhury, Director Salim Ahmed and Commissioning Consultant Dr EDL Hansen were present among others at the programme.
The hospital authority informed that renowned ‘Narayana Health’ of India and the IHL will jointly operate its ‘Cardiac Centre’ to ensure better medication. The ‘Narayana Health’ will also train up physicians, nurses and technicians of the hospital, they said.
Initially, treatment at some departments including pediatric, oncology, radiology, cardiology and orthopedics will be started.
The hospital is featured with blood bank, pharmacy, imaging, dialysis, full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services along with the emergency department, they said.Some 10 percent beds of the hospital will be kept reserved for providing treatment to distressed patients.
