Celebrated Indian cardiac surgeon Dr Devi Prasad Shetty has inaugurated the 375-bed Imperial Hospital in Chattogram.
The inaugural ceremony took place on hospital premises at Pahartoly area of the port city on Saturday morning.The organisers of the programme informed that Narayana Health of India and the Imperial will jointly operate the cardiac centre of the hospital.
The 6,60,000-sq ft hospital is located at the city's Pahartali area.
The hospital has been constructed over an area of seven acres of land. 14 modular operating theatres, 16 nurse stations, 62 consultant rooms with outpatient department facilities, 64 critical care beds, neonatal unit with 44 beds, and eight pediatric intensive care unit (ICU) are housed in five buildings of the hospital.
While speaking in the event, Dr Shetty, also the Chairman of Narayana Health, the hospital will offer health care services based on international standards.
The number of Bangladeshis travelling abroad to countries like India, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia is rising each year, he observed.
“The inception of this hospital will greatly reduce this trend.”Board Chairman of Imperial Hospital Limited Professor Dr Rabiul Hossen gave a welcome speech at the programme.
