Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Thursday said the usefulness of e-learning system will have to be examined for its sustainability in the education sector.
“We cannot damage our education sector by following developed countries. We have to go ahead according to the demand of our country,” she said.“We must scrutinize that whether the system is useful for our country or it is sustainable and financially affordable,” said the minister.
Dipu Moni came up with the remarks at a roundtable seminar titled “Use of e-learning in the teaching-learning of secondary education” organised by Secondary Education Sector Investment Programme (SESIP) of education ministry at a hotel in the capital.
The education minister said, “Suppose, we started the system without examining its utility spending a lot of money, but after some days it did not work properly. So, we have to find out such a way in which a suatainable e-learning system can be introduced for our education sector at low cost.”
Secondary and Higher Education Division Additional Secretary Dr Md Mahmud-ul-Hoque presided over the seminar while Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nowfel, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University Vice-Chancellor Prof Munaz Ahmed Noor, and educationist Prof Dr Mohammod Kaikobad, among others, took part in the event.
