Film star and road safety activist Ilias Kanchan has visited veteran actor ATM Shamsuzzaman, who is undergoing treatment for couple of months at Asgar Ali Hospital in the capital, on Eid day.
The champion of road safety issues went to the hospital along with his son Mirajul Moyen Joy after offering Eid prayer on Wednesday and spent some time beside him.Kanchan, the founder of Nirapad Sarak Chai (Nischa), talked to ATM Shamsuzzaman and also inquired about his health condition.
The Ekushey Padak-winning actor was hospitalised on April 26 after suffering from indigestion. He was later put on life support on April 30 as his health condition deteriorated, but it was later removed on the same day as the condition improved slightly.
He was put on the ventilation again on May 6 which was withdrawn on May 11.
Shamsuzzaman, who wrote over 100 stories, and film scripts, started his career in 1961 as an Assistant Director in “Bishkonna” and gained popularity in the silver screen as a comedian.
He was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2015 while he won Bangladesh National Film Awards five times for his roles in “Dayee Ke?” (1987), “Madam Fuli” (1999), “Churiwala” (2001), “Mon Bosena Porar Table E” (2009) and “Chorabali” (2012).
His movie career started in 1961 as the Assistant Director in “Bishkonna” while he first gained popularity as an actor through Amzad Hossain’s “Noyonmoni” (1976).
