Female ASI among two hurt in cocktail blast in capital

An on duty female ASI of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and a rickshaw puller were injured after a cocktail exploded at Malibagh intersection in the capital on Sunday night.

The injured are—ASI Rasheda Aktar Babli, (28), and Lal Mia, (50), a rickshaw puller.

Traffic sergeant Enamul Haque told that unidentified miscreant hurled a cocktail targeting ASI Rasheda while she was discharging her duty at Malibagh intersection around 9:00pm tonight. The cocktail exploded near her that left Rasheda and Lal Mia injured, a nearby police vehicle also caught fire.

ASI Rasheda had injury on her left leg while Lal Mia got hurt on head.

Later, they were rescued and rushed to Razarbag Police Hospital and later the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) at 10:00pm.

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit Chief Monirul Islam visited the spot soon after the attack and said that action will be taken after investigation into the cocktail attack on police van at Malibagh intersection.
