Bangladesh Krishak Samity (BKS) on Thursday formed a human chain and held a rally demanding fair prices of their paddy in the port city.
The human chain was held in the front of Chattogram Press Club protesting the fall of paddy prices and ensuring fair prices for the farmers.The organization demanded fair prices of paddy for the sake of the survival of the farmers, the backbone of an agro-based country like Bangladesh.
From the human chain, BKS leaders demanded points like curbing syndicate in purchasing paddy, starting government initiatives to purchase rice instead of paddy form the farmers, stopping harassment during collecting agro-loan from the farmers and opening government purchasing centres in Union level.
BKS Chattogram south unit’s president Sattar Choudhury, north unit's president Abdul Nabi, BKS leader Pulok Kumar Das and Anupam Barua delivered speech during the human chain.
After the human chain, they held a protest rally which moved on different streets of the city.
