Youth held for ‘stealing’ mobile phones from police barracks

CHATTOGRAM: Police arrested an alleged thief with five mobile phones  stolen from a police barracks and a tea-stall in the city’s Court Building area on Wednesday early hours.  

The arrestee was identified as Shahidul Islam alias Shahid, 32, hailed from village Katuria under Banshkhali upazila in the district.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mohsin of Kotwali police station said burglar took away four mobile phone sets from the police barrack on the ground floor of Chattogram Court building and two others from an adjoining tea-stall on Tuesday early hours.

Police Constable Liton Kanti Das filed a case with the police station in this connection.

OC Mohsin said they identified Shahid in the footage of CCTV camera of the police barrack.

Later, he was arrested from his house in the court building area and five stolen mobile phone sets were recovered from his possession.
