The Radius International School (RIS), the first ever activity and theme based English Medium School that follows the Cambridge Curriculum, was recently launched at Sector 7 of Uttara, Dhaka.
His Excellency Vicente Vivencio T. Bandillo, the Philippines Ambassador to Bangladesh and Non-resident Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, graced the inaugural function of the school as the chief guest held on its campus. Professor Dr. Charles C. Vilanueva, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, American International University Bangladesh, Professor Dr. Alamgir Kabir, Department of Statistics, Jahangirnagar University, and Dr. Mahabubur Rahman, Associate Professor and former Chairman, the Department of Political Science and Sociology, North South University, addressed the function as the Guests of Honour.Mr. Glen O. Barreda, President, the Philippine Society in Bangladesh, Ms. Zareef Tamanna Matin, former Country Head, CIMA Bangladesh, Mr. Mohammad Salahuddin Hazari, Regional Head, BRAC Bank Ltd, Chattogram, Mr. Minarul Islam, Head, People and Culture, Genex International System Ltd., and Mr. Zaheed Ahmed, Managing Director, Best Shirts Ltd., also addressed the ceremony as Special Guests.
Mr. Md. Hafizur Rahman, founding principal of the RIS, welcomed the distinguished guests and briefed the parents, students and guests about the purpose behind founding the school as well as outlined its mission, vision, academic structure and curriculum. Mr. Hasan Kibria, RIS Board Member, spoke on the significance of activity and theme based education and how it benefits students in the new century. Among others, Mr. Nazir Alam, Consul, Democratic Republic of Congo in Dhaka, Bangladesh and also the adviser to the RIS, highlighted the roles of English Medium Schools in Bangladesh and the future functional excellence of the Radius International School in the education and skill sectors.
