Sitakundu clash between police and fishermen: Three cops sustain bullet injuries

Police inspector and two constables sustained bullet injuries in a clash between police and fishermen at Sitakundu in Chattogram. The incident also left at least 30 persons of two groups injured.

Being informed, additional police personnel and local representatives rushed to spot and brought the situation under control as the situation of that area worsened due to repeated clashes.  

The clash took place at Kumira of Sitakundu of Chattogram following an arrest of a youth (fisherman) named Rubel Jaldash (30).

Local sources said policemen led Jahed Hossain Jasim, by sub-inspector of Sitakundu detained Rubel at around 11:00pm on Monday. During the arrest, a number of youths (fishermen) wanted to know the reason of his arrest and resisted the policemen. At one stage, a clash took place between them.

On the other hand, an elderly woman Bilombu Dashi (75) died in the area suddenly during this incident. But a rumour was spread that police killed the woman. And following the rumour over the death of elderly woman, massive clashes took place between lawmen and fishermen.
