Man held with 96 gold bars at Ctg airport

CHATTOGRAM: Customs officials arrested an air passenger with 96 gold bars worth around Tk 4 crore at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport on Sunday.

 The arrestee was identified as Md Shahjahan, 40, a resident of Satkania upazila in the district.  Shahjahan arrived in Chattogram by a flight of Regent Airways from Bangkok around 4:40pm.

Chattogram Customs Deputy Commissioner (DC) Nur Uddin Milon told the daily sun that on information, they detained Shahjahan and recovered the gold bars from pocket of his blazer.

 Market price of the gold bars weighing around 11.250 kilograms will be around Tk 4 crore, he said.
