Man stabbed by miscreants dies at CMCH

CHATTOGRAM: One man, who was stabbed by miscreants at Sitakunda upazila in the district on Thursday evening, succumbed to his injuries at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) early Friday.

Police arrested two accused identified as Md Murad, 30, and Nur Uddin Hares, 26, in this connection.   

The victim was identified as Abul Kalam, 30, son of Bajlur Rahman of Deliparra area under the upazila in the district.

Sources said there had been a dispute between Kalam and one Mafizur Rahman over previous enmity and establishing supremacy in the area for long.

Followers of Kalam allegedly beat up supporters of Mafizur centring the issue on Tuesday.

To take revenge of the attack, followers of Mafizur also stabbed Kalam with sharp weapons leaving him critically injured in front of a shop in the area on Thursday evening.         

Kalam was rushed to the CMCH where he succumbed to his injuries at around 12:45am, said ASI Alaudddin Talukder of the hospital police outpost.

Meanwhile, the victim’s son Abu Bakkar Siddiq filed a murder case accusing 15 identified and five to six unidentified persons with Sitakunda police station on Friday.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Delwar Hossain of the police station said they detained nine persons after the incident.

Later, seven of them were released after interrogation, he said.

Drives were going on to arrest rest accused of the case, OC Delwar added.
