At least five people were killed and six others injured in separate road accidents in three districts in last two days.
In Chuandaga, a man was killed and his son received injuries as a truck hit their motorcycle at Hijolgari Bazar in Sadar upazila on Wednesday morning.The deceased was identified as Hafizur Rahman, 50, of Nehalpur village of Sadar upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar police station Abu Jihad Fakhrul Alam said a speedy truck rammed into the motorbike carrying them, killing Hafizur on the spot.
However, police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee.
In Satkhira, a trucker was killed as his vehicle plunged into a roadside ditch at Bakchara in sadar upazila on Wednesday morning.
The deceased, Mafizul Islam, 28, was son of Mohamamd Ali of Shyamnagar upazila.
Officer -in-Charge (OC) of Satkhira police station Mostafizur Rahman said the Shyamnagar-bound truck from Kushtia fell into a roadside ditch at around 5.00am, killing Mafizul on the spot.Being informed, a firefighting unit recovered the body and sent it to the sadar hospital morgue.
Meanwhile, in Chapainawabganj, at least three workers were killed and six others injured as their paddy-laden human-hauler overturned at Piarson in Gomastapur upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased are Shaidul Islam, 18, son of Abdur Rajjak, Rakib Hossain, 32, son of Abdul Manna, and Mojaffar Hossain, 62, son of late Montaj Ali of Dhobra village in Shibganj upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gomastapur police station Jasim Uddin said around 10 to 12 workers were returning with paddy from Barind Tract. The accident took place as the human-hauler overturned and fell into a ditch after its driver lost his control over the steering at around 10.30pm.
Three of them died on the spot and six others injured critically as the paddy-sacks collapsed them.
Later, the injured were admitted at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and Upazila Health Complex immediately, the OC added.
