The government is likely to allow extension of a 85MW rental power plant in Brahmanbaria for the fourth time thanks to delay in implementing of large projects.
The UK based Aggreko International Projects Ltd sponsored the project which has started operation in March 2011. The power plant has got extension for three consecutive terms till February 28, 2019.Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) has purchased electricity from the power plant at Tk 3.1313 per unit (per kilowatt hour).
Now, the BPDB proposed for extension of the power plant for another three years period under no electricity no payment basis.
Anthony Smith, Managing Director of Aggreko has expressed his interest to extend the 85MW B-Baria gas based power plant for a three years period In March 5, 2019. He said the plan has been operating continuously at 80 percent load factor until the evening of March 4, 2019. The plant requires 23mmcfd of natural gas to run the plant in full capacity, said BPDB officials.
