Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) has quitted the BNP-led 20-party alliance as four BNP MPs-elect took oath without any consultation with its partners.
BJP president Andaleev Rahman Partho made the announcement in a statement sent to the media on Monday night.“BJP thinks that BNP has lost its moral right to reject the December 30 farcical election through taking such oath,” he said.
BNP has become excessive Oikya Front-oriented and the 20-party alliance has become almost dysfunctional, it added.
The BJP chief said the 20-party alliance rejected the results of the general election and decided not to join parliament.
But, six MPs-elect of Jatiya Oikya Front took oath as members of parliament.
“None but BNP was involved in making the decision to join parliament,” it also said.
