Daily Sun chief reporter’s father no more

Munshi Abdul Wadud

Freedom fighter Munshi Abdul Wadud, also the father of the Daily Sun’s chief reporter Firoz Al Mamun, died at the National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital in the capital on Sunday. He was 70.

He left behind his wife, two sons and a host of relatives, friends and well-wishers to mourn his death.

He was undergoing treatment in the hospital for the last few days, as he had been suffering from multiple myeloma, a cancer of plasma cells.

Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury has expressed profound shock at the death and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul. He has also extended his sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Besides, the daily sun family, including co-workers of the chief reporter, mourns the loss of Abdul Wadud.

He will be laid to rest today at his home village at Shailakupa in Jhenaidah after his namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayer). A guard of honour will also be given to the freedom fighter at his funeral.

Abdul Wadud was also a teacher of Islamic history. During his long-time teaching profession, he served in Jessore MM Government College and Kushtia Government College as an assistant professor and an associate professor respectively.
