Veteran comedy actor Anisur Rahman, popularly known as Anis has died in Dhaka. He breathed his last at the age of 78 at his Tikatuli residence on Sunday.

Anis was suffering from old-age complications for long time.

The first namaz-e-janaza of the popular comedian took place at Tikatuli Jame Mosque around 9:00am on Monday. Later, his body was taken to Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (FDC) where his second janaza was held around 11:00am.

Then, he was laid to rest at his family graveyard at Ballabpur village of Feni’s Chagolnaiyya on Monday after the third namaz-e-janaza.  

Anisur Rahman started his acting career in 1963. His first released film was Ei to Jibon directed by Zillur Rahman. Then, he never looked back and performed over 250 films.

Anis acted in many programmes on Bangladesh Television since its inception. He was a theatre actor too. He rose to fame in the genre playing the character Golam Hossain in the play ‘Nawab Sirajuddoula.’

His noted films are— Ei to Jibon, Poishe, Mala, Jorina Sundori, Jongli Maye, Madhumala, Bhanumati, Padma Nadir Majhi, Shurja Othar Age, Odhikar, Anger, Barud, Ghor-Shongsar, Emiler Goenda Bahini, Puroshker, Lal Kajol, Nirdosh, Shanai, Ujan- Bhati, Talak and etc.
