Pro-Awami League ‘Blue Panel’ sweeps DU dean election

'Blue Panel', a panel of pro-Awami League teachers, swept the Dhaka University dean election on Monday.

The 'Blue Panel' teachers were elected deans of nine faculties, out of 10, while the pro-Bangladesh Nationalist Party 'White Panel' was elected dean of only one faculty.

The voting for the election began at 9:00am and continued till 1:00 pm at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury senate bhaban.

The “blue panel” winners are Dr Abu Md Delowar Hossain in arts faculty, Dr Tofail Ahmed Chowdhury in science faculty, Dr Shibli Rubaiyatul Islam in business studies, Dr Sadeka Halim in social science faculty, Dr Md Imdadul Haque in Biology, Dr SM Abdur Rahman in pharmacy, Prof Nisar Hossain in fine arts, Dr ASM Maksud Kamal in environmental science, and Prof Dr Md Rahmat Ullah in law.

BNP-Jamaat panel’s Dr Md Hasanuzzaman bagged the engineering and technology faculty.

This election was held according to the procedure described in Chapter 18 of the Ordinance (II- Kha) from Professor/Associate Professors under section 27 (5) of the Dhaka University Order, 1973.

DU treasurer Kamal Uddin Ahmed acted as the election commissioner.
