Supreme Court clears ACC to continue Howlader graft probe

The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday suspended a High Court stay on the summons served on former Jatiya Party general secretary ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body is now free to continue its probe against Howlader for amassing illegal wealth, said Khurshid Alam Khan, lawyer for the ACC.

An Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Sunday.

The ACC summoned Ruhul Amin Howlader on Sept 13 last year to investigate allegations that he had misappropriated around Tk 1 billion worth of government assets.
