Preliminary round of International Leadership program on Education-2019 held on UIU campus

The preliminary round of International Leadership program on Education -2019 was held on Friday on United International University (UIU) campus in the capital.

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R Miler inaugurated the event as the chief guest while Cultural Affairs Officer of US Embassy Issabelle Zsldos was present as a special guest on the occasion, presided over by Vice Chancellor  of the  University Professor Md  Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman.

Around 700 students and a good number of teachers from 50 different educational institutions of Dhaka division joined the event organised by GEIST Innovation and Leadership Centre (GILC).

The program will focus on promoting leadership and enhancing English language skills among the students.

The event will be held in eight divisions of the country phase by phase and finally eight students will be selected for joining an International Leadership Education Olympiad to be held in Vietnam at the end of this year.

Participants will have to undergo a test on education, panel discussion and presentation based on English and global affairs. Students of grade 3 to 12 are eligible for the competition.

Chief guest of the event, Earl R Miler said, “The program aims to develop national and international leaders who will lead in his/her field to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Students will have the opportunity to take part in competitions, workshops, panel discussions with experts, online sessions, community activities and much more.

'We are so pleased to support the program that develops leadership and critical thinking skills among the students.”

He also appreciated Bangladeshi students performance who were studying in the United States  

Vice Chancellor of United International University, Professor Md  Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman said students need to be familiar with the global trend and prepared to face the challenges of the earth .

He urged the teachers, educators, guardians and students to develop awareness and take measures in this regard.
