The government on Tuesday signed a deal with a joint venture of three Korean companies to appoint a consultant for Payra Port’s first terminal.
The three companies are – Kunhwa Engineering and Consulting Co Ltd, Daeyong Engineering Company Limited and Hareem Architect and Planners Company Limited of South Korea.Commodore M Jahangir Alam, chairman of Payra Port Authority, signed the agreement on behalf of Bangladesh. Jeong Laenoh, president of Kunhwa Engineering and Consulting Co Ltd, Dae Jinkim, director of Daeyong Engineering Company Limited and Eun Sangjo, country director of Hareem Architect and Planners Company Limited of South Korea, signed the deal in presence of Shipping Secretary Md Abdus Samad.
For implementation of the project, consultant's work will be completed by a single team with some sub-teams.
The three companies will work as main supervisor while Bangladeshi company Symbiotic Architect will work as sub-supervisor.
The work of consultancy has been divided into two phases – design and supervision. The total cost of the deal is Tk 79.52 crore.
Besides, it will take 36 months to complete their works (six months in design phase and 30 months in supervision phase).
