WASA MD pledges prompt steps to supply drinkable water in Jurain

WASA Managing Director Taqsem A Khan pledged prompt steps to the protesters to make the supply water drinkable in Dhaka’s Jurain area.

He gave out the assurance after protesters tried to make him drink “juice” made out of Jurain’s supply water on Tuesday.

Jurain residents, holding jars containing ‘sharbat’ made from supply water, gathered to Wasa Bhaban around 11:15 am.

They also protested the WASA MD’s remarks “The water that we supply is 100 percent drinkable.”

WASA MD, however, did not drink the “sharbat”, rather he assured that he will look into the supply water of Jurain at the earliest time possible.

Earlier on April 20, trashing a recent report by Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), managing director (MD) of the Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA), Taksim A Khan said the water supplied by WASA is 100 per cent safe and drinkable.
