IEB chief’s father passes away

Engineer Abdus Samad, father of Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) President Abdus Sabur, passed away at Labaid Hospital in the capital on Saturday night. He was 86.

He is survived by his wife, four sons and two daughters.

Abdus Samad was buried after his second funeral prayer during Zuhr prayer at his native village of Daudkandi in Cumilla on Monday which followed the first one at Green Corner Mosque during Fajr prayer, according to an IEB press release.

Awami League chief and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of Engineer Samad.

In a condolence message, the prime minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and extended her profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

AL acting General Secretary Mahbub-Ul-Alam Hanif also expressed condolence at his death.
