2 Rohingya ‘drug traders’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

Two Rohingya ‘drug traders’ were killed in a reported gunfight with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Keruntali area on Ukhia-Tekhnaf border in Tekhnaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar on early Monday.

The deceased were identified as Saiful Islam, 21, son of Samsul Alam of 13 no Rohingya camp and Faruq Hossen, 25, son of Nabi Hossen of 19 no Rohingya camp.

Being informed, Howaikyang police outpost in-charge sub-inspector (SI) Dipankar Roy said a gunfight took place between BGB members and drug traders at Keruntoli area of Palangkhali, a team of police rushed to the spot and recovered two bullet-hit bodies from the spot.

The bodies were sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said.

 Police also recovered 20,000 pieces of yaba pills, a kris and locally made weapon from the spot.
