BNP expresses sorrow for condolence message

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Sunday expressed heartfelt sorrow over sending condolence message to mass media regarding death of veteran journalist Mahfuz Ullah at a Bangkok hospital.

In a press release issued on Sunday evening, signed by BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, expressed deep sorrow for the unexpected mistake and wished early recovery and long life of the ailing journalist Mahfuz Ullah.

Admitting the mistake, Rizvi said that a condolence message signed by party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman and secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was sent over the ‘death’ of senior journalist Mahfuz Ullah depending on media reports.

We did not confirm the media reports on Mahfuz Ullah’s death. Actually he is alive but in critical condition. We are praying for his early recovery and good health.

Meanwhile, Journo Mhafuz Ullah’s daughter Nusrat Humaira told media, “my father is alive, I’m sitting next to my father at Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok.”
