No fireworks on Shab-e-Barat

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) imposed restriction on carrying of all types of explosives, crackers as well as explosion of firecrackers in the capital on the occasion of holy Shab-e-Barat, the night of forgiveness and fortune for Muslims, to be observed on Sunday night.

DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia made the statement in a press release on Saturday.

As per instruction, the restriction will come into force from 6:00pm on Sunday to 6:00am the next day (Monday).

The ban has been enforced under Section 28 of DMP Police Ordinance-1976.

The National Moon Sighting Committee on April 6 announced that Shab-e-Barat will be observed on April 21 in Bangladesh as the moon of the month of Sha’ban was not sighted in Bangladesh sky on April 6.
