UAE state minister visits Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar

UAE State Minister for International Cooperation Reem Ebrahim Al Hashimy on Friday visited a Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar.

Al Hashimy also visited Rohingya refugee communities and UAE sponsored Malaysian Field Hospital at Ukhia in Cox’s Bazar. 

Later, UAE state minister paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganabhaban, said an embassy press release.

During the meeting, both the PM and the UAE state minister expressed their firm optimism that Bangladesh and UAE will remain further engaged in mutually cooperative and supportive partners for development and prosperity. Rohingya crisis was also an issue of the discussion.

She also called on UNHCR Representative in Bangladesh Steven Corlliss and Senior Advisor to the Representative of World Food Programme Naila Sattar. They discussed severity of Rohingya situation to assess the humanitarian needs of the refugees.

It may be mentioned that UAE has extended its support to emergency food relief for Rohingya women and children refugees in Bangladesh thorough UNHCR, Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Big Heart Foundation, Hope Foundation, Kuwait Society for Relief, Khalifa Foundation, Red Crescent, UAE etc.

UAE State Minister arrived in Dhaka on April 19 and expected to leave today.
