JU senior students allegedly assault junior fellows

Some senior students of Journalism and Media Studies (JMS) department of Jahangirnagar University allegedly assaulted junior students.

The incident took place on Monday night at the central playground of the university.

Sources said, students of second year told their junior fellows to be present at the central playground on Monday night where they physically and mentally tortured them.

 

On condition of anonymity, a victim student said, ‘We went to central playground as senior students asked us to be present there. But, their actions and behaviors disappointed us’.

Victim students named Harun-Or Rashid of Shahid Salam Barkat hall, Enamul HaqueTamim of Bishwakabi Rabindranath Tagore hall, Jakir Hossain Jibon, Raisul Islam Raju, Tausif Abdullah, Steve Solga Rema and Mahbubur Rahman of Mowlana Bhashani hall and more 7-8 who were involved in ragging. However, the senior students insisted juniors to hide the issue, they added.

 

JU Proctor ASM Firoz Ul Hasan said, ‘We went to the spot after being informed by the chairman of JMS department and a victim. We found none involved in ragging. We have been informed that some senior students assaulted their junior fellows.’

Contacted the Chairman of JMS department Adnand Fahad said, ‘We asked the students of 48th batch to submit am official complaint.’
