Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Monday said that sustainable development goals (SDGs) will be achieved through building skilled manpower.
“A large portion of our population is young and effective youths are main force of our country. So, sustainable development goals will be possible through building skilled manpower,” she said.Shirin, also lawmaker for Rangpur-6 constituency, said this while inaugurating the two-month long workshop titled “welding fabrication”.
The workshop was being organised jointly by Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) and ministry of Expatriate’s Welfare and Overseas Employment for the youth of Tribal at the Upazila Parishad auditorium at Pirganj in Rangpur.
The Speaker also said that the incumbent Awami League-led government has been taken different programmes to develop human resources.
“Youth will be able to build employment if they are trained,” she said adding that the government is working relentlessly to develop people’s living standard.
The Speaker handed over driving professional licenses to 40 trainees at the programme presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rangpur Enamul Habib.
Among others, principal of Technical Training Center M Lutfor Rahman, Director of Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) DM Atiqur Rahman, joint secretary of the ministry of Expatriate’s Welfare and Overseas Employment Narayan Chandra Borma, Chairman of Upazila Parisad of Pirganj Shafiur Rahman Mondol Milon and mayor of Pirganj Abu Saleh M Tazimul Islam Shamim were present.
