Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday reiterated that the killers of madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi would not be spared.

“The perpetrators who have burnt Rafi to death will not be spared,” the PM said when Rafi’s parents AKM Musa and Shirina Aktar called on the Prime Minister at her office in the capital Monday.

Rafi set an example of bravery by sacrificing her life in protest against the evils of the society, the PM said.

After the meeting, PM’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed the reporters in this regard.

The premier consoled the members of the family and expressed profound sympathy at the tragic death of the madrasa student, Ihsanul Karim said.

She also assured them of extending all kinds of supports and cooperation, he added.

Rafi’s parents expressed profound gratitude to the premier for standing beside them at this critical juncture of the family.

Rafi’s two brothers and NRB Global Bank chairman Nizam Chowdhury were also present in the meeting.

Rafi, who was set on fire on April 6 by miscreants, succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 10.

Earlier, Rafi accused Siraj-ud-Daula, the principal of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa, of harassing her sexually on March 27.

On April 6, the student fall victim to the extreme vengeance of the principal when she went to the madrasa to sit for her Alim examination.

A group of masked youths, reported to be the principal’s stooges, took Rafi to the rooftop of the madrasa and set her on fire.

After the incident, the prime minister asked the law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to the book and take stern action against the killers.

Earlier, the premier directed the authorities concerned to ensure best possible treatment for the 18-year-old student.

The premier also gave a job offer to Rafi’s brother Mahmudul Hasan Noman on a condition that he will be able to join NRB Global Bank on completion of his graduation.
