The new non-stop intercity train service on the Rajshahi-Dhaka route has been named Banalata Express but not been started plying yet.
Although the name of the train was finalised on Wednesday, ultimately it didn't ply due to some technical issues and surely unprepared. Immediately uncertainty arose about train's journey on Pahela Baishakh.
Khandaker Shahidul Islam, general manager of Bangladesh Railway (West), more or less confirmed these fears by announcing that the train having 12 bogies along 928 seats, is likely to embark on its first journey from the last week of the month.
Though the new bogies have been brought from abroad but the arrival of the new engine to turn them all into a locomotive is holding things up.
