Bangladesh Bank (BB) Deputy Governor SM Moniruzzaman on Wednesday urged the Banks to administer programmes that will help develop skills of employees and convert them into human capital.
The central bank deputy governor also urged the bankers to increase the effectiveness of the country’s banking sector which has became more competitive now-a-days.He was addressing a review workshop on “human resource management in banking sector” organised by Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) at its head office in the capital’s Mirpur area on Wednesday.
Deputy Governor SM Moniruzzaman said, “The banking industry of Bangladesh has become highly competitive. In this environment, banks need to manage human resources with transparent systems and processes.”
He also said that the banks have the responsibilities for human resource development for talented manpower and placing them in right places. The deputy governor also mentioned that the researchers have tried to show different dimensions, trends and challenges of HR globally. Moniruzzaman said bank management gives less emphasis on managerial skills including ethics and integrity, leadership, time and stress management, change and crisis management when imparting training which is not a good sign for the banking industry.
BB Executive Director Abdur Rahim made the welcome address while BIBM Associate Professor Mohammad Tazul Islam presented a key-note paper on state of human resources in banks.
