A Feni court on Wednesday placed Maulana Siraj Ud Doula, principal of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa on 7-day remand over the case of setting Nushrat Jahan Rafi on fire.
The court also placed two other accused—Afsar Uddin, lecturer of English department of the madrasa and Alim examinee Ariful Islam on five-day remand each.Feni Senior Judicial Magistrate Saraf Uddin Ahmed passed the order after Kamal Hossain, a sub-inspector of Sonagazi Police Station and also investigation officer of the case, produced the three accused before the court with a remand prayer.
Police had arrested Afsar and Arif in connection with the case on Monday.
The madrasa student was set on fire on April 6 allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case filed against Maulana Siraj Ud Doula, principal of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa for sexually harassing her late last month.
The student is battling for her life at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
