Fireman Sohel Rana’s body arrives in Dhaka

The body of the injured fire fighter Sohel Rana, who was injured in Banani FR Tower blaze, has arrived in Dhaka from Singapore on Monday night.

The body of Sohel Rana reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by a flight of Singpore Airlines at around 10:45pm.

“The body of Rana arrived here by a flight of Singpore Airlines around 10:45 pm at the airport and the senior officials of Life Saving Force received the body,” Armed Police Battalion (APBn) Police ASP (Media) Mohammad Tarique Ahmed told.

His body has been kept in the mortuary of Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for tonight and his first Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarter at 11am on Tuesday.

Later, Sohel’s body will be taken to his village home Itna in Kishoreganj.

Sohel Rana passed away on Monday morning at a Singapore General Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.

Earlier in the country, he was undergoing treatment in critical condition at Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

An air ambulance carrying Sohel Rana took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 6:48pm for Singapore General Hospital.

He was an incumbent fireman of Kurmitola Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Including Sohel, a total of 27 people were killed and around 70 others injured in the deadly fire incident on March 28 (Thursday).

The fire incident, at FR Tower in Banani, caused huge loss to life and property because of flouting the building code, faulty construction and lack of life saving equipments.
