High Court clears way for Moudud's trial in graft case

The High Court on Monday cleared the way for the lower court concerned to continue trial proceedings of a corruption case against BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed.

The High Court bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice SM Kuddus Zaman passed the order after holding hearing on the review petition.

Earlier, the former Law Minister filed a petition with the High Court challenging a lower court order that dismissed his application for halting the trial proceedings of the case.

The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case with Gulshan Police Station on September 16, 2007 against Moudud on charge of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 7.38crore and concealing information about his wealth worth Tk 4.40crore.
