Widen scope for practising knowledge, science: Dipu Moni

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Saturday urged all to contribute towards enhancing the scope for practising knowledge and science uprooting the menaces of drugs and terrorism.


She also called upon them to maintain a congenial atmosphere at educational institutions.


“All the universities of the country should make not only certificate holders but also enlightened citizens,” the minister said while addressing the ‘International Convention of Vice-chancellors’ as the chief guest at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust).


Vice-chancellors of 24 universities of the northeast region of Bangladesh and India attended the conference. Deans, registrars and teachers of the university were also present.


Dipu Moni underscored the need for introducing exchange programmes among the universities of the region to create skilled manpower keeping pace with the demand. “This region will turn into intellectual powerhouse through mutual cooperation.”


She also urged the VCs to play a role in establishing peace in the region for its sociocultural development.
