A two day-long DG level talks between Bangladesh and Indian Customs Intelligences will commence from March 31.
High officials from Bangladesh Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) and Indian Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) will meet at the capital’s Hotel Intercontinental from March 31 to April 1.
Dr Sahidul Islam, Director General of CIID, made this disclosure at a press conference held at the CIID office in the city’s Kakrail area.
Additional DG Abdul Hakim and Shamima Akter were present at the press conference.
“First DG Level Talk-2019 between two countries will be held on March 31 and April 1. Issues like promotion of trade between two countries, gold and cattle smuggling, drag and transportation of illegal goods will get priority for discussion in the meeting,” Sahidul Islam said.
“We will also discuss the issues of importing goods on the basis of rumour and safeguarding the borders. Besides these, new agenda can also be added.”
National Revenue Borad (NBR) Chairman and Senior Secretary to internal resource division Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan will inaugurate the discussion event while NBR member Khandakar Aminir Rahman will be present as the chairman.
Indian Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Chief Director General Debi Prasad Dash will lead the eight-member delegation team. Other members of the delegation team are Chief addition DG Bandana Deori, Chief Custom Commissioner Dip Shekhar, Additional DG Dipankar Arun, First secretary of Indian High Commission to Kathmandu Prabhjeet Singh Gulati, Deputy Director Rakesh Dahiya, Deputy Director Swati Bhanwala and a representative of Indian foreign ministry.
Thirteen member delegation team of Bangladesh, including CIID Director General Dr Sahidul Islam, Additional Director General Abdul Hakim, Additional Commissioner of Rangpur Customs Abdul Mannan Sardar and Additional DG Shamima Akter will join the discussion.
