Lawmaker and Journalist Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman said the textbooks should not be read only to pass the examination rather it should be read for searching knowledge.
“Students should know well about Bangladesh and the true history of the War of Liberation through books… Apart from the regular textbooks, one should practice reading historical and scientific books for gaining the actual knowledge. It leads him or her to be an idealistic and society- friendly man in the society,” he said.
Shafiqur Rahman, former president of National Press Club, was speaking at a prize giving ceremony of Bir Muktijoddha Advocate Jabed Ali Foundation as chief guest a Charvagol village under Faridganj upazila of the district on wednesday.
Founder and Chief Adviser of the Foundation Prof Dr SMA Mansur Ahmed presided over the ceremony.
Officer-in-Charge of Faridganj police station Rakib Uddin, former UP chairman Khaje Ahmad Bhuiyan, Chharka Chandpur Multipurpose High School and College Principal Abu Zafar Md Shamsuddin and Faridganj Press Club President Nurunnabi Noman were present the function, among others.
