JCD leader held over derogatory remark about Liberation War

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a leader of Jatiyatabadi Cyber Dal (JCD) for spreading derogatory remark about the Liberation War and anti-state propaganda on social media.  

 

The arrestee was identified as Ashek Ahmed, 40, president of JCD, reports UNB.

 

In a press briefing on Monday, Emranul Hasan, commanding officer of RAB-3, told that Ashek was arrested from Tejgaon area on Sunday night.

 

The press conference was held at the media centre in the city’s Karwan Bazar.

 

He also said the elite force found derogatory remarks regarding the country’s Liberation War and some national leaders with pictures on his Facebook wall.

 

Ashek confessed that he was a former student of Dhaka University (DU) Public Administration Department. He was the vice-president of JCD of Bangabandhu Hall Unit at the university, RAB-3 commander added.

 

He is also the vice-president of Sewachhasebak  Dal of Natore unit.  

 

Legal process against him is underway in this connection, the officer said.
