Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) announced restriction on vehicular movement in some parts of the city on the occasion of the Independence Day on March 26.

In a bid to beef up security measures during the observance of the historic Independence Day, police have outlined a direction for smooth traffic management.

Public and private transportation have been asked to take diversions when travelling from Dhaka to Savar, Aricha-Paturia to Dhaka, and Tangail to Dhaka between 4:00 am and 7:30 am on Tuesday.

The diversions are necessary to accommodate high volume of traffic in the area, as the president, prime minister, and leaders of different organisations, political parties, foreign guests and diplomats will visit the National Martyrs’ Memorial.

As per the DMP’s instructions, vehicle traffic will be restricted on the Gabtoli-Amin Bazar Bridge, and Savar-Nabinagar Road routes. The Dhaka Airport Road-Abdullahpur Crossing- Ashulia Road route can be used as an alternative. Those who would travel from Aricha/Paturia to Dhaka through the Savar-Amin Bazar route should use the Nabinaga Bazar- Baipail-Ashulia route to enter Dhaka instead.

On the other hand, those who would travel to Dhaka from Tangail through Ashulia should use the Kaliakair-Gazipur crossing-Tongi route.

The Independence and National Day procession of children and juveniles will be held at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.

Besides, the prime minister, other ministers, military personnel, diplomats, and eminent freedom fighters are also set to pay a visit to President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Tuesday.

According to DMP guideline, streets adjacent to Bangabandhu National Stadium and the President Abdul Hamid’s official residence Bangabhaban will temporarily be shut down from 6:00 to till the end of the programme on that day.

In order to ensure the safety and smooth movement of vehicles, all kinds of vehicular movement will remain suspended from Zero Point to Gulistan Underpass through Rajuk Crossing. Only flyover using vehicles can access.
