Five killed in road crashes in three districts

Five people were killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in Rangpur, Natore and Magura districts on Tuesday, reports BSS.

In Rangpur, three people including supervisor of Thakurgaon bound night coach from Dhaka and its two female passengers were killed and four others injured in the road accident near Dhaperhat point on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway under Pirganj upazila of the district.

The deceased are night coach supervisor Rezaul Karim, 40, son of Joynal Abedin of village Singher Shimla in Sherpur upazila of Bogura and passengers Jharna Begum, 24, daughter of Bashir Uddin of village Dharla Kandi and Shamsunnahar, 50, wife of Ansar Ali of village Prothom Danga in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur districts.

The injured persons were admitted to nearby Pirganj Upazila Health Complex.

“The accident occurred when a Rangpur bound covered-van from Dhaka turned turtle after the driver lost control over the steering and hit a night coach from the behind there,” said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirganj Thana Saresh Chandra.

“A case was filed in this connection with Pirganj police station,” the OC added.

In Magura, a driver was killed as a passenger bus hit his human hauler locally known as Nosimon in Sadar upazila.

The deceased identified as Emdadul haque, 22, hailed from Kochundi village in the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Magura Sadar Thana Sirajul Islam said the accident took place in Hulinagar area on Faridpur-Magura Road.

Emdadul was taken to Magura Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

In Natore, a furniture trader was killed as a truck crushed him in Sherkol area on the Natore-Bogura highway under Singra upazila of the district.

The victim is Masud Rana, 25, son of Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Shankarpur village under Shibganj upazila in Bogura.

Sub-Inspector of Zhalmolia Highway Police Camp Mozammel Haque said Masud Rana was coming from Bogura to Natore by a truck to sell his furniture. On the way suddenly he fell down from the truck’s cabin and crushed under the wheel of the truck at about 9-30 am. He died on the spot.

Highway Police recovered the body and sent to Natore Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
