KHULNA: Khulna City Corporation (KCC) authorities on Tuesday started a crash programme to reduce the mosquito menace in its region, reports BSS.

As part of the programme, the KCC will spray insecticide including both adulticide and larvacide to kill mosquitoes and destroy its larva, a KCC official said.

The programme was inaugurated by KCC executive engineer (mechanical) Md. Abdul Aziz at word no 22 in the city.

The crash programme began through six wards in the city. The wards are no-20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25, the official said.

Mosquito menace intensifies during the winter season as water flow remains low due to little rainfall boosting mosquito breeding in water bodies and canals. So the KCC has planned to conduct an anti-mosquito crash programme alongside the regular fogging to relieve the city dwellers of the menace, the official added.

“We launched the crash program for mosquito eradication from the city and clean up the drainage system for the coming rainy season. Concerned authorities and councillors will try their level best to combat the mosquito menace.
