Awami League (AL) presidium member Mohammed Nasim called upon lawmakers-elect of BNP to talk about their imprisoned party chief Khaleda Zia in Jatiya Sangsad (JS).

He came up with the statement while addressing a prize-giving ceremony of an art competition marking the 99th anniversary of birth of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at a school in Bijoynagar of the capital on Sunday.

Nasim, also the 14-party spokesperson, said that BNP’s ‘wrong’ decision has left the party isolated from people. “You have gone deaf due to your lots of wrongdoings. Even you cannot speak as your party chief is in jail due to graft cases against her,” he said.

Recalling Bangabandhu’s contribution to the liberation of Bangladesh, Nasim said that it would not have been possible to gain independence without the leadership of the Father of the Nation.

He said, “He (Bangabandhu) was assassinated brutally. During the rule of BNP, anniversary of Bangabandhu’s death had not been observed, let alone his anniversary of birth,”

Nasim, also the former health minister, said fake birthday was also celebrated on 15 August, the day when Bangabandhu along with most of his family members was assassinated.
