NEW DELHI: A biopic on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sparked debate in Loksabha polls campaign saying that such film aims at influencing voters and a violation of electoral code of conduct. The biopic will be released on April 12.

With its behind-the-scene photos, the biopic staring Vivek Oberoi as PM Modi has been hogging the limelight on the internet since its announcement.

However, the movie-goers, who look forward for its much-awaited trailer have got a big surprise.

The makers have released the date of Omung Kumar’s directorial PM Narendra Modi biopic. The main opposition party, Indian National Congress, wrote to the Election Commission to stop the release of the film as what it said that it would violate the electoral code of conduct.

According to the reports, the team of PM Modi wrapped up the shooting in Uttarakhand on March 10 and has moved to Mumbai for remaining shooting on Wednesday.

Starring Vivek Oberoi as PM Modi, the biopic PM Narendra Modi will discover the journey of Narendra Damodardas Modi from his humble beginning to years as the Gujarat Chief Minister to the landmark win in the 2014 general elections, and finally becoming the Prime Minister.

The National Students’ Union of India – the Congress party’s student wing, on Friday urged the Election Commission to ban the release of Narendra Modi Biopic, alleging that the movie was ‘propaganda by the BJP to influence’ voters during the Lok Sabha elections.

The letter demands a ban on the movie 48 hours prior to voting which is known as election silence where a party is not allowed to promote or campaign.
