The Dhaka University (DU) authorities on Saturday sought evidence of irregularities in Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall union polls.
“If anyone has any proof of irregularities, dishonesty, vote rigging or forgery in DUCSU and hall union polls, the DU authorities will take action following proper probe after getting his/her evidence,” said a DU press release on Saturday.“The students who uphold the values of Dhaka University have not fulfilled the interest of a vested quarter who was trying to gain political mileage by destabilising the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in the country and the university…” read the statement.
The statement said that the university authorities both verbally
and in written statement repeatedly informed that some unexpected anomalies might be in DUCSU polls, which were organised after three decades.
“There were some obscurity and non-availability in the management policy. So, different questions for example painting permanent colour on voter’s hand and using transparent ballot box were raised; but these cultures do not belong to the history of Dhaka university’s election,” the release added.
