RANGPUR: Strict enforcement of the Consumer Right Protection Act 2009 along with raising social awareness has become crucial to ensure supply of pure and safe foods in local markets for saving public health, reports BSS.
Officials and civic rights activists made these observations on Friday at a discussion held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in observance of the World Consumer Rights Day-2019 in the city.The district administration, Department of National Consumer Rights Protection and Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) jointly chalked out programmes in observance of the day.
Earlier, a rally with participation of officials of different government departments, activists of CAB, business community leaders, civil society members and local elite was brought out on the city streets.
Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Joynul Bari attended the discussion as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib in the chair.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Abu Taher Md. Sohel Rana, Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police for Rangpur Range Md. Mazid Ali and Divisional Deputy Director of the Department of National Consumer Rights Protection Khondker Mohammad Nurul Amin addressed as special guests.
