55 structures by Turag river demolished

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority pulled down 55 illegal structures during a drive on the Turag River near Borborodeshi Mouza, Savar and Amin Bazar area of the capital.

BIWTA joint director AKM Arif Uddin and executive magistrate Mostafizur Rahman led the drive.

Joint director AKM Arif Uddin said on the last day of the second phase of drive, BIWTA tore down 20 concrete boundary walls, 15 bamboo jetties and 20 tin-roofed houses.

The next phase of the drive will start on March 19 from Gabtali- Amin Bazar area to the Turag River.
